Education is a major key component in order to contribute in society. As a student, I have learned that there’s a huge difference between Community Colleges and Universities. I chose to attend a community college because I knew that a university would be far more complex. In addition, every college student starting in their college education should take into consideration college will be a whole different experience. When I started college I enrolled in a community college; however, once I decided I wanted to start college my first thought was moving out to a university. “Official statistics show that on average, the cost of attending a community college (tuition and fees only) is less than half of the cost of attending a four-year public college or university and only about ten percent of the cost of a four-year private school” (McClenney). Therefore, students that will enroll in college will be less struck by tuition if enrolled in a community college. Tuition in a community college is easier to pay, and a student does not have to take out a loan because there’s other forms of payments. For example, in the community college where I’m currently enrolled I have the option to use the payment plan. The payment plan is a plan where I’m given a specific date I need to make a payment before the whole tuition is due. In addition, that also helps the student stay active in school, and helps the student from taking a break from school. However, in a university tuition is highly expensive. Most students after they graduate from a university are in debt because of loans. Although people that graduated are well paid, the debt is still there and many take a long time to even cover all expenses. In addition, a community college helps student plan ahead financially when the next step is to attend a university.
