Community College Reflection Essay

I'm not going to do a whole bunch of research to demonstrate this well-known point, because I'm not getting paid at all right now so I really don't care. But I will use my own personal experience working at community colleges as an adjunct in Ohio.
The three colleges I've worked at, one four-year university and two community colleges, pay anywhere between 425-500 a credit hour per semester. So, for one three credit hour course from Sept. - December, I'll make a total of $1500 before taxes for the semester. Split that monthly, for one course, I'll make 375 a month. Weekly, that's ~$93. Per hour? About a couple bucks depending on how you want to calculate it.

I can definitely attest to this, in Ontario at least. At my job I create the salary

To determine her regular rate of pay, divide $30,000 by 52 weeks, which means she earns $576.92 per week. In a given week, let’s assume she earns $400 from lessons. Thus, her total compensation would be $976.92. Last, you divide her total compensation for that week, $976.92, by the number of hours she worked, including hours she provided lessons. If she worked 60 hours, then her regular rate of pay is $16.28 per hour, which is well above the minimum wage.…

Throughout the first semester of College Composition, I wrestled with three essays, all differing in format and content. The first was a narrative that reflected our educational experience. After this came an analysis of a visual text, followed by a research paper. The narrative was the easiest to write; however, I acquired important skills for writing the other two, which were in a less familiar format. With the three essays, I learned about my own writing skills and habits concerning development and critical thinking, time management, and organization.…

Like most people, the third grade was a highly intense time. This was the period in which you had to decipher between wanting to learn how to multiply or learn how to divide first. Or for me the most difficult decision may have been choosing between kickball and tetherball during recess. But I had an issue of seeing adults doing things and if it was simple I would do them too. For me as a child I had what many considered an old sold.…

Working only nine months out of the year, many people feel that teachers are overpaid. When you take Ohio’s average starting teacher salary, and divide it into 52 weeks you get $15.87 an hour, however, if you divide that pay in just 36 weeks, teachers make $22.91 an hour starting out. With over $7 an hour difference, many argue that teachers make enough. However, teachers do not get paid that $22.91 an hour, for they divide that pay up to last them through the summer, causing them to earn that $15.87 an hour. Others also argue that teachers have many breaks during their day.…

The way this would work is that the “school day” would last three hours, two days a week. However, instead of holding classes during the working week, classes would be held on Saturday and Sunday so that parents would be able to help out. If three teachers are hired at the public school rate it would cost sixty dollars an hour for all three of them. Meaning one day would cost one hundred and twenty. So it would only cost two hundred and forty dollars each week.…

The proposal needs more detail about the issue sooner. When writing this paper, I started off really vague about the issue talking about how in general things break. However, it should be mentioned earlier that the things that are broken are property at a university that needs to be fixed.…
