My past laid out upon a table. My GPA, my resume, my test scores. An unfamiliar man whom I met for the first time was frowning, turning around in his creaky red chair, while hurriedly trying to contextualize my life with just a few pieces of paper. For 15 minutes, he sat there, unhappy, tapping his foot, analyzing what I’ve “done” with my life. He took a sip of water and suggested that I go to community college.…
Ever since I was in elementary school I’ve wanted to be a teacher. That is my dream job, and I would like to start following my dream by going to the New Mexico Junior College. I am still in High School, but I am enrolled in Dual Credit Courses and I know that the NMJC is the best option for me. It is close to home, and it has good teachers. Those are some of the reasons why I chose applying for the NMJC.…
Community college used to have a reputation of being less academically serious than traditional four-year universities. But a lot has changed in the world of community college. Most importantly, academic standards have risen, as have the qualifications of the teachers. By the end of this essay youll find out what my career goals are and what college i want to attend to, and what area i want to work in after I complete college.…
Community Colleges offering 4-year degrees Introduction In this paper, I will be discussing the current trend of 2-year community colleges offering bachelor degrees. Community colleges begin adding bachelor degree programs in the early 2000’s. This shift started when community colleges notice that their community fell behind the state average for 4- year degree holders. Also, many of the communities were hit-hard economically with layoffs and closings.…
Two years ago, I arrived at Skyline College, Community College, as a high school senior who just got out of High school, I spend my whole summer as the First Generation Summer Scholars Institute at Skyline College, this program prepared me to get ahead in my studies, before starting my first semester in college. A week after this program came to an end, I started my first semester as a college freshman, throughout this semester, I was part of the Trio program and still am, I took advantage of their Math and English tutoring services, they helped me accomplish on passing my classes. I also participated in their events, such as the Trio kickoff, this is an event where all trio students and faculty gather together to have fun, I was also part…
The College Partnership Program is designed mostly to raise the academic aspiration of its students. I am the perfect candidate for this because I can and will do the extra work needed in order to get into a good college, actually I’m looking forward to it. As of now I have an exceptional GPA and I hope to graduate high school with an I.B. diploma in my hands. Another qualification of mine is that I’m a leader. In group projects in and out of school I always try to put the most effort in and really try, not just to make the project have as much information as possible, but also make it mentally appealing to my audience.…
I needed to make a decision on whether I should go to a community college in California or out of state and play basketball. It was a very hard decision to make because I already had my mind set on me getting a scholarship to a university but I failed my physics class my senior year in high school. So I wasn’t qualified to play at a university. I never thought that I would be choosing between a community colleges instead of universities.…
. My high school years were rather rough. I bounced from group of friends to group of friends. I got in trouble, was an outcast, and just hated school. Therefore, I decided to never do my homework, try to cheat on tests, faked sick, and went through a terrible phase in my life.…
Initially, my educational goals were to go to a community college and transfer to a 4 year university, get a degree, and make a lot of money. Now being at DVC for a semester, my goals have changed because of the many different experiences I had and a few of the clubs I have joined in this school. One education goal I have is to learn the subjects I am interested in and apply them to the real world. I came to DVC to also redeem myself and build a habit of becoming a hard worker and push myself to do my very best. Programming in particular has interested me because I practiced it in high school…
When I graduated on June 2012, I had no idea what to do, I missed a whole semester (Fall 2012) because nobody helped me with college applications and didn't know how to apply for community college. When I started community college (Spring 2013) I was placed placed in really easy classes which I really didn't need to transfer and was also not interested in. Unfortunately, during my first two-three years at community college years, a lot of things happened. My father got into an accident at work, where he amputated his fingers when he was chopping wood with a table saw.…
After high school I plan on taking a year off and getting a job to focus on raising enough money for myself to aid in college. After my year off, I would like to attend a community college for two years and then transfer over to a university for the rest of my necessary education. For community college, I would like to enroll in Copper Mountain College. I would like to attend Copper Mountain College rather than College of the Desert because it is cheaper, and many students in the valley will more than likely be rushing to go to College of the Desert. If everyone is fighting to go to College of the Desert then the classes available would be more limited.…
Motivation: Going to college after failing twice before is no simple task. My first run at college I didn’t finish due to not being able to afford college. I was a professional pilot college in Oklahoma. I moved back home to California and went to community college and decided to enlist in military while halfway through the semester, which I eventually had to drop in order to go to boot camp. My motivation is being able to tell my son that I have attained a BA in Criminal Justice.…
I’m glad you took the time to write me, few students are interesting in important details about their education, Forsyth Tech has many advantages as a community college. I do remember your sister, Marguerite was an exceptional student. The work load is very manageable; however, it varies depending on how many classes you take per semester, I know many full-time students at Forsyth that also have a part time job, I myself have a full time job, it’s very important that you can manage your time to meet projects, and homework deadlines.…
However, my plan after high school is to apply for a community college and then attend a university. But, if it’s possible, I will try to apply for a university. I think it’s best to apply for a community college because many professors are very well educated and the cost of it is lower than a four year college. Now, I am not saying that the professors from a university aren’t much different than the ones from the community…
To the job site I brought in proficient computer skills including technical and software aspects. During my time at a Community College, I learned and advanced capabilities in Microsoft Office programs including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access (database software). I believe this was an advantage when making the transition from Community College to University because I would be able to use advanced features in these programs to help me excel in projects and assignments. On the job site, I was able to further put into practice my computer skills, however, it was not to the extent of my full capabilities. It took a while before the staff in the department were able to notice my abilities with word processing software,…
