In these positions the students would embody reason, cavity, and decorum to reduce the psychological distance, separating students and local residents from the university’s administrators (Brock & Green, 2005). The spokespersons must use cold logic and hard facts to show that the campaign’s mentality is the only way of thinking. This combative approach is known as the sage on the stage and has been used effectively in many political campaign (Simons and Jones, 2011).
The yes- but and sage on the stage approach will work to help the SUNY Fredonia administrators understand the student’s perspective because it they are based off logic. The approach is grounded in hard facts that build an ultimate identity of common interests between the three demographics. When trying to convince the other two demographics, the campaign would most likely implement the yes- yes approach, which was previously described in Step II.
