I enjoyed reading your post, and it was every informative. I agree with your on your saying that some workers attempt to help in the community ends up having the feeling of futility and despair due to the disparities and the roadblocks to the solutions. The result is often a burnout. As noted, burnout affects human rational portions of the brain. As physical and psychological capacities are overloaded, individuals react with responses of fight or flight r, the overall capability to be creative, solve problems, and learn then gets compromised (Alvarez-Buylla & Temple, 1998; Dickerson & Kemeny, 2004 cited by Weiss, Tilin, & Morgan 2014). In health care, the result would be poor performance, and poor outcomes, that affect safe patient care.
