Vietnam is located in the Southeastern Asia and borders the Gulf of Thailand, Gulf of Tonkin, and South China Sea, as well as China, Laos, and Cambodia. It is a one-party Communist state. Vietnam has a rich and interesting story as any other country. The name Vietnam originated in 1803 and was two separate words at first. According to everyculture.com, “When envoys from the newly founded Nguyen dynasty traveled to Beijing, the new emperor had chosen that name for his kingdom.” The Chinese chose this name because it represented an ancient state that had fought against Chinese rule. The word Viet resulted from a traditional Vietnamese imperial domain and their people, which is now the central and northern part of Vietnam. The second word, Nam, …show more content…
There was the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, which was in the North and the Republic of Viet Nam in the south. The Geneva Accords was an agreement to end the First Indochina War and very significant since it meant that it was the end of French influence in the Southeast Asia. The country was then, later reunited and was renamed to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Vietnam is a law-governed state with a political system established along with the Democratic Republic of Viet Nam. This socialist country is under the control of the Vietnam Communist Party. The Communist Party of Vietnam are the ones who have established a nationwide political system, which is composed of the Communist Party, political organizations, socio-political organizations, and mass associations. …show more content…
Vietnam has a basic legal system based on a socialist theory inherited from the French and according to Basic Structure of Vietnam Legal System, “the National Assembly is the highest office responsible for the law making activities” which mean they have the most important job. The National Assembly has 500 delegates who are elected for a five year term. The most important document passed by the National Assembly was the constitution, which was passed on April 1992. “Laws, ordinances, decrees and other affiliated legal documents dealing with different aspects of social life” are all written under Vietnams constitution. This system is very much alike to the U.S. with separation of powers and all, and just like the U.S. there are laws.
