Communication Style Assessment Results

The style under stress results were not particularly surprising to me. I don’t consider myself one that moves to conflict easily and I suspected I might be middle of the road when it comes to a tendency to move to silence and my scores reflected that. With regards to the communication style assessment results, I was a little surprised at my score on the analytical style. It was a little higher than I expected but the other scores were what I anticipated.

When I was thinking about the specific situation for the assessment, I thought most of the questions were fairly easy to answer. I did, however, find myself pausing to make sure I was answering them objectively. Even though the results are private, I think we all have a tendency (myself included) to want to answer these types of question as the best version of ourselves.

For example, if the conflict was with someone I’ve worked with for a long time I might be quicker to challenge them and if the conflict was with new a new co-worker, I might take more time to collect my thoughts before responding.

Relating my results to the TK conflict management styles it’s difficult to select one particular style but it’s easy for me to see that I don’t have a competing or avoidance style. One of the things I learned from style under stress results is that I need to keep an eye on my tendency to move to silence. I scored middle of the road but I need to make sure I’m speaking up when
