Clear and open communication is a characteristic of successful teams, effective leaders and flourishing organizations. Communication can be accomplished in numerous forms, such as oral, written, visual, and even non-verbal. All of these forms of communication require two vital components, the sender and the receiver to achieve the communications process. The channel of communication that is chosen, and the factors that mediate the messages are important to the delivery of the message.

Beyond the value to organizational communication, it is important to consider the biblical implications when applying the concepts to modern organizational environments. Barriers to communication have existed for as long as there has been communication. Nonverbal communication, specifically mixed messages, is illustrated in Proverbs 6:12-13: “A worthless person, a wicked man, goes about with crooked speech, winks with his eyes, signals with his feet, points with his finger,” (English Standard Version). The importance of listening skills, which combat noise and miscommunication, is admired in Proverbs 19:20: "Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future" (English Standard Version). Technology, such as social media and email, has dramatically increased the speed that we can communicate. The efficiency that these technologies can provide is admirable: “Making the best use of the time, because the days are evil,” (Ephesians 5:16, English Standard Version). In using this new technology to communicate, “avoid irreverent babble, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness,” (2 Timothy 2:16, English Standard Version). The modern business world has acknowledged the benefits of social media as a tool to connect with consumers. Organizations can utilize social media’s “new tools, techniques and paradigms continue to enrich, simplify and speed how marketers and their audiences interact,” (Jayaram et al., 2015, p. 119). Consider that “one of the most important advantages of the use of social media is the online sharing of knowledge and information among the different groups of people” (Baruah, 2012). Implementation of a social media campaign should be executed with planned precision to achieve the desired results and limit
