Writing Skills Cause Miscommunication

Good communication is the means by which every worker on a construction team is united in order to achieve the end goal and stay safe while doing it. In construction, communication happens through many different modes. It can be through signs, emails, letters, drawings, power points and words. Everyday every person on a crew is chockfull with communication in different ways from someone giving them an order, the supervisor giving a directive, explaining information about services you provide, work quotes and safety information. People are not inclined to take you and your message serious if mistake are frequent. Regular mistakes will take away other’s confidence in you including your ability to conduct business, handled important tasks, quality of a product, and on and on. In most any type of work one does, writing is a part of it. We may have to write e-mails, proposals, billing invoices and project plans as well as marketing materials. Disastrous or poor writing can negatively affect ones work, reputation and/or ability to do the job. Effective writing is one of the best ways to promote yourself and/or your business. I also think the way you write can tell someone a lot about who you are as a person. Effective writing is a skill that takes practice but it will help you throughout your life. Being able to write well can also alleviate some questions others may have when hiring you to do a job.
