Communication Barriers In The Brady Johnson's Case

Stated in the case study there are several communication barriers within the case. The first communication error is the use of filtering. According to the releasing officers, they were only given Brady Johnson’s personal property information but later they commented they did not have time to go through the entire case file (Allen & Sawhney 2015). So exactly what is the truth? Were they given the entire file but only read the property personal information part or were they only given the property personal information paperwork? The cause of this barrier is information distortion, who gave them the information and what information were they exactly given? Another possible communication barrier is the use of incorrect channels. The case study states that the office clerk placed a file of the indictment into Johnson’s case folder but according to the text it went unnoticed by the releasing officer's prior to Johnson’s release. The releasing officers are supposed to report to deputy warden of custody before the release of an inmate (Wood. 2015). The deputy warden of custody is supposed to go through each …show more content…
The content they would need to come up with standard operating systems that work between this selective group chosen between the prosecutor’s office and prison and stick to them. The process would be to continually check the communication line to make sure proper protocols are still being followed and used. The structure of the group would need to be routinely checked for efficiency and quality for the best results in serving both the community and the inmates.
