After his second year, he decided to go back to practice law in Springfield (Editors, 2015). In 1842, Abraham Lincoln and Mary Todd had talked socially and decided to marry on the 4th of November that same year (Editors, 2015). Out of the four kids they had, only Robert live to be an Adult (Editors, 2015). In 1854, Abraham Lincoln got another chance to work his politics when the Kansas-Nebraska Act was passed by the Congress (Editors, 2015). Along with this, the Missouri Compromise was cancelled and independent states can choose to allow slavery or get rid of slavery (Editors, 2015). The argument over slavery lead to violence which caused a drive to the creation of the Republican Party (Editors, 2015). Lincoln soon became an addition to the Republican Party due to his annoyance of slavery (Editors, 2015). His thoughts on slavery is one reason why he was chosen to be elected president (Editors, 2015). Seven states in the south had departed from the Union in March 1861 and Fort Sumter was attacked in April (Editors, 2015). Abraham Lincoln was a very good listener and communicator which contributes his strength in communication (McClarie, 2013). In making any situation Lincoln was a man known to listen (McClarie, 2013). He has been in situations where he’s had to listen to ideas that conflict with his but he still gives a respectful reply but it didn’t mean that he agreed (McClarie, 2013). Lincoln always gave others a chance to express their ideas and plans (McClarie, 2013). Because of Lincoln being a great listener, his communication is just as solid (McClarie, 2013). Abraham Lincoln knew how to talk to the people by listening and making conversations (McClarie, 2013). When Abraham Lincoln was working as a store owner, he began to develop his social skills with people around him (Editors, 2015). Lincoln expressed his visions in a way his audience can comprehend and understand what he is trying to do (McClarie, 2013).
