Communication: A Career As An Athlete

Decent Essays
As an athlete, it is crucial for me to be able to communicate with my coach, and also other team members. Being a younger athlete it is crucial for me to have excellent communication with my coach about how I am coping with my training as it was found that poor communication was the leading factor which contributed to burnout in the young athletes (athlete assessment, 2015). Communication is also vital when my coach goes away as he was overseas for the Rio Olympic Games and it was during the time of the Australian Cross Country Championship. We communicated with each other about my training and how I was feeling to make sure my preparation for nationals would be the best possible. Poor communication could have lead to me being over or underdone for my race. In the workplace, communication is an essential skill to have as it prevents misunderstandings, mistakes, and conflict. When people communicate with each that will help to get the job done as quickly and effectively as possible.
