Common Stereotypes: Who Are Heroes Today?

A person unarms a man who was attacking his family. Then, instead of calling the police, he kills him. Is that heroism? For some, heroism is what he did, physically killing your enemy; while for others, it's quite the opposite, the act of mercy. Although most people perceive the word hero as something that is very objective and agreed upon, the word hero is actually quite subjective as each person has their own beliefs which are based on their different upbringings and experiences. Take the Greek myths, which are filled with countless heroes like Perseus, Theseus and Hercules, which are still famous today. Yet, would they still be considered heroes today?
