Today’s students are preparing to enter a world in which colleges and businesses are demanding more than ever before. To guarantee all students are ready for success after high school graduation, the Common Core State Standards establish clear, consistent guidelines for what every student should know and be able to do from kindergarten through twelfth grade. The Common Core State Standards have been adopted by forty-two of the fifty U.S. states. The state of Mississippi adopted the Common Core State Standards for English language arts and mathematics in 2010.
