The sole purpose of the entire standard was and is to; in the long run prepare students for college and their future lives. While indeed it is a proven fact that it does truly prepare students for their future education, and lives by giving all of the teachers from the states that have affiliated themselves with the standard the exact same curriculum and lesson plans that need to be completed before the end of the year (Gardener and Powell, 2013/2014).
