1. I would disclose to Jane that her doctor would not prescribe an antibiotic with her current condition is that she does not have a bacterial infection that was diagnosis by Dr. Merry. Viruses are not microorganisms susceptible to treatment with antibacterials that would be ineffective for her infection. (Fulcher. pg. 285) However if Jane has a secondary bacterial infection present with her current viral infection can allow for antibiotics to be use. I would also take the time to explain to her that various infections can either be caused by different type of organisms.

Jane should also realize that there are risks when misuse of antibiotics due to allergic reaction, bacteria can become more resistance, secondary infection can occur or kill off the other good bacteria. Antibiotic is ineffective when a person stop taking full course of medication early if a person is feeling better. This can allow a bacterium to become resistant to antibiotics from change in the bacteria genes or mutations. I would also lecture Jane that she should not try to seek antibiotics prescription from the Internet, family or friends that can have consequences to her health.
