A commitment to diversity is a notion that nurses should not take lightly. It is an obligation throughout their nursing career stating that they will serve anyone regardless of their race, culture, gender or sexual orientation. This notion is to ensure that all patients and other nurses are treated equally and equitably. Additionally, nurses have to work with other individuals who might not share the same viewpoint. To have an efficient workforce within the community, nurses are encouraged to work around these differences by respecting and recognizing the needs of individuals besides themselves.
