Pet Food Research Paper

The quality of commercial pet food has steadily declined. The sad impact is that dogs have developed strange new health problems that did not exist even twenty years ago.
Arthritis, digestive disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, skin and coat problems, allergies and behavioral problems are now common. The booming veterinary industry has been so explosive, in part, because the nutiritional building blocks animals need for strong, healthy bodies is not available in the food they eat.
DISTURBING FOOD FACTS
It's no secret that the ingredients used common dog foods are confusing. When the label says chicken, lamb or beef, what parts of these meats are used? Although the images of perfect ingredients and healthy dogs are widely used on packaging,

DRY KIBBLE MYTHS
Water is arguably the most important nutrient in your dog's body - especially when you consider that both humans and animals can live a lot longer without food than they can without water. Inadequate water consumption can lead to many disorders, from skin problems and constipation to urinary tract infections and kidney disease.
Most people think hard crunchy substances clean dogs' teeth - therefore they must feed dry kibble. However, kibble can draw valuable moisture from inside your dog (try soaking 1 cup of kibble in 3 cups of water and see what happens).
Veterinarians agree that dental hygiene is important, too. But, if dogs have buildup, plaque, tooth decay and bad breath why should we use the dry food that contributed to the problem as a toothbrush? Dogs eat food, drink water and breathe air. Only one of these can actually decay teeth and gums (except for the rare case where bad teeth are genetic.)

That's why they cost a small fraction of what real food costs for humans.
The USDA monitors meats entering the American food supply, and the processing of those meats through to the final food product consumed by humans. That's why it's a standard you can count on. If ingredients or the processing of those ingredients, are not suitable for human consumption it is inspected and rejected for human consumption by the USDA.
The USDA does not regulate dog food, unless the manufacturer creates true human grade product and voluntarily requests and complies with regulated supervision from the USDA.

HAPPY HEALTHY DOGS
For most of their lives, the dogs we love have been eating dry, cerealized, compacted leftovers from the meat packing industry. These leftovers include, including diseased and dying animals, recycled restaurant grease, rendered meats and meals.
