Question 1 The Films The Trip (1967) and Taxi Driver (1976) are two films that were created during the time Hollywood was having set backs and during the time that they created new ideas that eventually took them out of the struggle. This was considered Hollywood's fall and rise They are both similar in a way due to the way the movie films were shot. Both of these films were created to allow us to see what the character was feeling and points of view. They both shared new aspects that made them stand out as a part of a New hollywood. Their characters each break barriers and portray struggles faced by woman on an everyday basis. Although both films come from two completely different cultural backgrounds they both demonstrate their struggles and how they are overcome in one way or another; they are not always the happiest. These films demonstrated how women are able to create their own futures and in some way make their own decisions. She was both the author and director of this film. Her knowledge as an anthropologist helped her write and create mind blowing films with attitudes that were not common to most.Both films mention the freedom of the women who are in the films, since they are the main characters. Although they come from distinct culture most women rights are seen as universal . In many areas women are not allowed to make their own decisions, let alone have a voice. The film Daughters of the Dust(1991) was written and directed by Julie Dash whom broke barriers and was the first woman to direct an African American film in the United States.(Ilearn essay). Each woman had their own story and where they had came from and only three will mentioned briefly. The Main character was Nana Peazant, in the film she is what holds all the ancestors together. Her indigo palm represents where they come from and it is is a symbol that will be carried on from generations to come. This became the symbol handed on that would protect their ancestors through any journey. The color symbolized the hard work she had done as a slave, her hand become dyed and those were her scars that represented the events that took place. Another character was Eula Peazant she represented the family's crisis (IN WHAT WAY). (ILEARN ESSAY).The last one that will be mentioned is Yellow Mary. She represented their african Deity which is odd because she was actually one of the ones that was different. She was a prostitute that was joining their journey. These three women symbolized different things within the black community. They can be feminism, gay rights, and some sort of black nationalism. Coming from women these three things are huge due to the fact that around the time the film was created these things were not acceptable, and women, like today struggle for equal
