Commentary On The Song 'Alright' By Daruis Sucker

Decent Essays
I choose “Alright” by Daruis Rucker, And I chose this because it brings me back to my childhood. That’s Because when I was growing up we would always hear his sons on the way back home and dad would always turn it up. So it brought me to like his song and brought me to like country music. Which this song I think this is one of his best songs. But I still like “Wagon Wheel” more than “Alright.” The main plot of the song is about being “Alright” with what you have. And he continues on about he would rather have then what he could have and what he has he likes. Which I perceive it as being a simple person and being easy to please. Which I think I’m one of the simplest person I know. Sometimes I’m not easy to please but most of the time I don’t

In 1976, the Swedish group ABBA ravished the world with their hit song “Dancing Queen.” Even after 30 years since its exposition at King Carl Gustaf’s ball, the song remains a favorite in dance clubs. Mixed with pop-operatic harmonies and inspiration to the dance rhythm in George McCrae's "Rock Your Baby," as well as the drumming on Dr. John's 1972 album “Dr. John's Gumbo”, ABBA is able to convey an elated feeling of limitless joy and highlights the greatest music of the disco era. Through a beautifully woven blend of uplifting, empowering lyrics and a sophisticated melody scattered with heart-tugging high notes, “Dancing Queen” celebrates the carefree innocence of youth.…

“Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog” is a super-hero musical tragicomedy produced with a really low budget; however, it still won the People's Choice Award for "Favorite Online Sensation" in 2008 and Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation in 2009. Depending on my own opinions, the socko performance of Dr. Horrible character in this 40-mins miniseries played by Neil Patrick Harris is the main reason, which made “Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog” become specially, and leads to the successful of the whole movie. Accordingly to the story line, we can see that Characters in “ Dr. Horrible sing along blog” are different as the characters we usually see in the Hollywood movies. There are the mix personalities of all characters in this movie; for example, the bad guy is not bad enough (Dr. Horrible) and the good guy (Captain Hammer) is neither good enough, which makes the storyline become more interesting for the audience. For instance, the bad guy must be the people who try to do the bad thing because of his own sake; however, Dr. Horrible is funny and event cute instead of being serious and badass as most of the bad guys…

My Personal Playlist and Transcendental Justification Icarus, Bastille, 2011 I personally love this song simply because of the Greek Mythology reference, as well as the really cool entrance; and I think that transcendentalists might like it as well. My interpretation of this song is that it is talking about how young people search for happiness by doing dangerous and risky things (i.e. Icarus got excited and flew up towards the sun), that may lead to them getting hurt (the sun melting the wax off of Icarus’s wings and him falling to his death. Transcendentalists would like this interpretation, because they believe that although people try to bring happiness into their lives by relying on material things (ex. Drugs and Alcohol), this will never…

    Satire In Hard Out Here

Lily Allen’s “Hard Out Here” it is a work of light satire which mocks modern day consumerism and stereotypical society’s views of women in media. In her music video Allen immediately points out a few of society’s views on consumerism. In her first lines she used a very common term from society which from a misogynistic background, is used to describe a female and continues on with a list of other common stereotypes such as women in the kitchen, in media it is all about materialistic possessions instead of personality, the double standards of society, and plenty more. In her second verse Allen takes on the voice of “the society in which we live in” and she tells all the women that they need to be a size six, being from the U.K. this is the equivalent to a size two in the U.S. Women need to be perfect wife material or they will end up alone, is basically where this verse is going. This where the satirical aspect of the song lies, she mocks the stereotypical view of what wife material is and inflates it to a higher level, she says that women need to be thin, attractive, rich or a great cook, and have someone to objectify you as a trophy to live a good life.…

of his ancestors if he did not reconcile his current self with his traumatic childhood. Much like the emphatic repetition of the “old blues song” that Pilate sings, in order to solve the mysteries of their family’s origin and carve a place for themselves in America, Milkman and his family uses music to heal themselves and eachother. Music and musical terminology are used to promote healing in the novel; but the recurring use of Pilate's “old blues song” creates a vein of psychotherapy that is more individualistic and specific to her family. Creating a personalized traumatic narrative that covers a specific past experience of indisputable trauma is key in allowing “psychotherapy to work at the cellular level” (Vaughn 5).…
