The book Wonder has a boy name August who goes through many challenges. August was born with a facial deformity. He wasn’t expected to survive all the surgeries. After surgeries and surgeries he still doesn’t look normal. After being sheltered all his life his parents decided it was time for August to learn how to be more independent.

August's mom and dad decided it was time for him to know what the real world is like. They knew that couldn't act like he was a baby his whole life because they knew he could do great things in life. Both of August's parents knew it was time to go to a real Middle School. Augusts dad at first was arguing with his wife because he didn't think it was a good idea “ So sending him off to middle school like a lamb to the slaughter….”(Palacio, 10) In the end they all knew it was best for August to attend school. Lets just say Jack Will, and Julian were a little condescending to August during the tour. Asking him moronic questions like, “Can you talk?”(Palacio, 10) staring at Auggie in the corner of there eye. After the tour was over August's mom wondered how it went and said she thought the boys were nice. August did tell her that the boys weren't very nice but insisted in going to the school.

Well here its is. The first day of school. Auggie and his parents are both feeling apprehensive. He new exactly where he had to be and he knew exactly how to get there without letting someone see his face.“I went straight to room 301 on the third floor.
