Orson Scott Card is the author of the 1985 science fiction novel, Ender’s Game. Card was born in Washington state in 1951. His family moved around a lot when he was young, but he finished high school in Utah in 1969. He later went to college at the University of Utah and got his bachelor's degree in theater, where he sparked an interest in writing. After receiving his degree, Card then briefly ran a repertory theater. Being raised Mormon, his first writing job was with the official magazine of the Church of Latter Day Saints. During his time there, Card began to write what is arguably his most well known novel, Ender’s Game. In 1977, Card married Kristine Allen and the couple went on to have five children. Sadly, two of them passed away before reaching adulthood.
