Commandments In Animal Farm

Improved Essays
In the novel “Animal Farm” there were seven commandments that the animals had to

know. The animals knew and had to abide by these commandments. In life, we have a lot of

unwritten “commandments” that we should abide to as well. A few of those commandments are:

1.) Speak when entering a room. 2.) Respect your elders. 3.) Treat others how you wish to be

treated. 4.) Cover your mouth when coughing, sneezing, etc. 5.) Don’t be in people’s personal

space. 6.) Put your phone down when you’re supposed to be doing more important things. 7.)

That’s why when you get a job, you’re supposed to get a contract

that states what’s to be expected from you. We started writing contracts in my house so if you

sign it you have to honor your word, but if it was just a verbal agreement then it wasn’t nothing

the “mediator” (which is usually my dad) could do. That’s why if you have an agreement with

somebody, it’s best to have it in writing.

because it’s extremely rude not to. Respect your elders because, if it wasn’t for them you

wouldn’t be here. Treat people how you wish to be treated because, if you’re mean and hateful to

everybody, how do you expect people to be nice to you all the time? Cover your mouth when

you cough, sneeze, etc., that’s just nasty to be spreading germs and making others sick. Don’t be

in people’s personal space because it’s very uncomfortable. Put your phone down when you’re

supposed to be doing something else that’s far more important, because too many people have

lost their lives and loved ones because of these phones. Get it in writing because a verbal

agreement doesn’t really mean that much, but if you get it in writing it’s guaranteed to mean

Hammurabi’s influence on punishment and modern society When reading Hammurabi’s code and reaching rule #22: “If anyone is committing a robbery and is caught, then he shall be put to death. ”1 We may agree that it is or it is not the most suitable punishment; however, such punishment is considered just when the code is written to enforce the importance of these rules. In today’s society, the punishment for similar crimes became more lenient than the codes during Hammurabi’s rule as society has grown more merciful and not all crimes are considered equal. Today the code is applicable to the definition of the crimes only, but the punishments for them has shifted over time from the literal letter of the code to a more what we would call…
