Comma Problems

Improved Essays
My biggest problems when it came to writing was using commas and semicolons, coherence of my papers and responding to a text. I use the word “was” because I found several resources to help me out with the biggest problems I have when it comes to my writing. The best resources I found for these problems are The Little Seagull Handbook, the MEAL plan template and paperrater.com. One of my favorite resources that I used was the Little Seagull Handbook and this resource helped me with my semicolon and comma problems I had been experiencing. For as long as I can remember I have subconsciously been using comas to extend sentences and those sentences became run on sentences. The Seagull Handbook helped me figure out that I can edit out my misplaced commas or add coordinating …show more content…
I have found the perfect resource me when it comes to proofreading and looking for errors and that resource is paperrater.com.( https://www.paperrater.com) This website allows me to copy and paste my papers into an automated proof reading software that proof reads my papers for me. If I were to proof read my own papers I subconsciously think that I have not made any mistakes so I don’t even look for the small mistakes or see any problems. Paperrater.com will catch any spelling or grammatical error that I have made such as misplaced commas, run on sentences, spelling mistakes, wrong verb tenses and much more. It even grades my papers and shows me how to improve my papers at the same time. A huge plus to the website is that it is free and anyone can use it. I think that paperrater.com is a great resource for myself because of the proof reading is fast and I know that the proof reading was done right. If I let a peer proof read my paper their responses could be wrong and I could end up correcting something that was right in the first

Using the various types of grammar, punctuation, and plagiarism checker tools to write and prepare IT papers will be essential for future classes. When writing, one can get so involved with deep thought that we tend not to focus on writing techniques, so it is nice to know that checker tools are in place to highlight what needs correction. I recently found a website that provides an immediate writing analysis of your document that focuses on grammar, and plagiarism as well as some other practices called PaperRater. Once in PaperRater, you have a couple of options on how to submit your document. One, you can copy and paste it or two; you can upload it from a file.…

First of all, I love The Oatmeal. Their articles are not only informative, but also really help to understand things. They also help me to remember things, because humor is a good memory tool for me. I do not often use semicolons in writing because I am afraid to misuse them. I'm hoping that after this chapter my habits will change; semicolons are important for making your writing easier to…

Under timed conditions I was not able to reread and revise my essay, so this may be a valid explanation for some of my sentences. However, this will be the case for the AP exam, so this habit will need to disappear. For example, in my introduction paragraph I stated “However, to bring about this challenge once again would not be the most effective way to raise money for impoverished communities.” This sentence is not horribly confusing, but it could use improvement by making it less…

I still have an issue that causes most of my paper to fall apart before I start it. I can understand what I write, but translating that to paper or text only becomes jumbled and confusing by the time I am finished with all ideas. In Accelerated English 4 I was able to improve my style, though it still remains dull enough that I manage to lose most of the people who read my papers. My use of moat properties in Accelerated English 4 and other classes that required a written report from me have very similar problems. I have always been told that my style in addition to my thought process tends to become blurry and confusing.…

Progress Paper This is a reflection of my evaluation on my progression from the first essay I wrote to the second. Looking back at the first essay I wrote in this class titled “My Experiences” and the second essay I wrote titled “The Variety of Family Structures in Today’s Society” I noticed several things. I had wording choice and punctuation errors in both essays, but my body paragraphs had good development. I needed to elaborate more with certain topics that I brought up, but my thesis statements and conclusions were good.…

Writing can be a struggle for a lot of people, including me. High school showed me that I clearly struggle with specific parts of creating a paper, or a short story. Like most people in high school I was given complements on my work, and some specific parts of my paper to work on by my high school instructors. I always had a great topic, or I thought my story was great. There is a similar problem I had then, and still have now.…

As a writer I am a still growing. I prefer both persuasive and narrative writing styles. Persuasive writing comes easier to me because I can apply passion to my topic and have the ability to share that passion with others. I also can apply emotion that others can relate to and feel I can make a difference and start the process of changing issues like racism, stereotyping, or global warming. I enjoy narrative writing because it is telling a story.…
