Coming to America was a terrifying and uncertain journey for my parents, who came to the United States as young adults. Despite the dangers, it was a risk that they were willing to take to ensure their family with a better future. As children, my siblings and I were told stories of what our parents had to endure while growing up in Mexico and what was required of them from a young age. Throughout the years, they taught us to aim for the impossible and not to settle for less than what we had the potential to accomplish.
