What does it mean to come of age? For some it could just mean becoming a legal adult, or moving out. While for others it can mean so much more; this essay will analyze what I think it means to come of age. The three things that tie into coming of age are: responsibility, development and opportunity. Firstly developing skills are important because learning skills like how to cook or what medicine to take will play a huge role in independence; it is a part of health care, and providing food which is vital in taking care of yourself. Secondly, developing the maturity to do all of the previously said stuff is important because if you are not even mature enough to make small choices like eating right how are you going to make big adult choices like what career path to choose. Also developing maturity is important because it helps to choose which battles you are or are not going to fight. Finally, developing the strength to be alone is a important during this transition because the majority of decision making is going to be your responsibility and being independent you are most likely going to need to make all of them
