The prophets in the Old Testament really did play a significant role. There were many ideas about who will come to be the Messiah, and when will He come, and where would the Messiah would come from (Chuck 205)? Now, we need to understand that God did not inspire the prophets of the Old Testament with on idea of the coming Christ. In fact he inspired some of them to know more about His birth in Bethlehem, and how he would preach a new covenant. Others would see that He would suffer a crucifixion and rise afterwards thus defeating evil. Some prophets thought the Messiah would be a great military leader, who would lead their people to many victories.

However, I believe that Isaiah prophesized the glory of the Son more clearly than any other prophet. Isaiah 42:1-3 talks about Jesus’ personality. Isaiah portrays the Messiah as very tender, and gentle, and loving. He is able to bring justice to those without screaming and freaking out. He foretold about Jesus’ character, obedience, and relationship with Father God. Isaiah 53:2 tells about Jesus’ appearance. We should not desire him for his appearance or beauty. This is hard to do. I find myself always thinking I am not worthy enough, not because of His appearance, but rather His glory. In Isaiah 50:4-9, Isaiah shows that the suffering is very real. This is also one of the four servant songs found in the book of Isaiah. Isaiah is talking about him being beaten and persecuted. He is saying that even though this is happening, he will not disgrace the Lord. This is a parallel to the Suffering Servant. Ultimately, Jesus (the Suffering Servant) is crucified on the cross. This was the ultimate sacrifice that He paid for all
