Coming From The Author's Own Experience Analysis

Decent Essays
Does a story have to come from the author’s own experience? Yes. I feel most stories that are written comes from the author’s own experience in some way. When you write from your own experience it makes a better story. As an author writes, they brainstorm about what they want to write about first. During the time you are brainstorming, memories from the past and situations you’ve been in always come into play. A story coming from your own experience has more feeling in it and it’s more vivid then if you were to make a story up. Real life experiencing are always more interesting and also come with life lessons. People today love to look into others’ lives and in some way experience what they have experience. It is almost as if you are walking

Patricia Hampl’s “Memory and Imagination” provides a coherent insight about what a memoir consist of. Hampl begins to explain that a memoir is “a matter of transcription,” meaning that one has the power to present what details they choose to share. As a memoirist, you soon begin to question whether your memory is a reliable source or if your mind filled those empty gaps with desirous details. However, those memories that we simply remember must have been part of a life-changing moment that was not apparent to us at that moment. Although one intended goal could be accuracy, writing a memoir could help one discover what they know compare to the assumption of what happened.…

Authors often write about their past experiences, whether traumatic and nightmarish or exciting and mostly normal. Writing can become therapeutic and be clarifying to authors because they get to show a side of themselves and pour out their emotions to an audience. In his memoir Night, Elie Wiesel tells his story about the experiences, exposure, and cruelty he endured during the Holocaust to divulge the theme of man’s inhumanity to man. At a time when most people should be enjoying becoming young adults, Wiesel’s journey took a horrific turn.…

I agree with your viewpoint of Donald Murray's refection of all writing. The writer's viewpoints will always be capable of reflective of their individual experiences and observations, reception and perceptions, especially from the early years of life. Though writing may fall in the category of fiction or non-fiction, the details works will always be written in a reaction to certain marked effects. Experiences are responsible for shaping ones view point whether it is written with a few more influencing or in accordance with fact or reality-- all is written from an account of a person's life, written by that…

Project 1- Reading and Writing and Bechdel: When thinking about the way we read and write as individual’s, we often do not think of someone reading or writing a comic book, we often jump right to the conclusion of a person reading or writing something along the lines of a novel. Bechdel did just that, in creating her comic book “The Ordinary Devoted Mother” she wrote and read in a comic book style. She developed reading and writing as a recurring theme in the duration of her piece. Throughout the duration of this essay, what reading and writing essentially does, where reading and writing comes from and what the purpose of reading and writing is, will be further discussed. I am currently looking out the window to the bustling street and every single person I am seeing has a story of their own, has a family story that I could never begin to imagine. I have no way of knowing the way family may have shaped a person’s life, but everyone’s family will affect the way in which they perceive the world. Because of this, no one person perceives the world in the same manner. Since we all have different perceptions, none of us can completely understand how someone else sees the world. This is not to say that we can never at least begin to understand the point of views of others.…

The story that I did was Breaker’s Dilemma and I think my personal connection to that story is that I have gotten random emails or texts that says subscribe to us or have you looked at our new product. And I usually ignore then in which that is what I did in that story. And I used the decisions in that story to relate to what happened to me in real life. Most of the decisions that I made in the story did relate to my life because there was a girl trying to flirt with Breaker and that has happened to me with a boy then I tried to ignore it then they just kept sending me text so I soon reported it to have the person stop.…

Differences in between the lines Each story a person shall come across will always differ from one to the next. Whether it is from a different point of view of how the grammar, tone, content, theme, texture etc. is used the stories are never going to be exactly the same; they will not necessarily be different either. Many stories have very similar motives to make you think, act and feel certain ways, like the comparison between N. Scott Momaday’s “The Way to Rainy Mountain” and Alice Walker’s “Beauty When the Other Dancer is the Self.” They compare and contrast perfectly.…

Without stories we would be lost, wandering around questioning everything but never getting any answers. Additionally, coinciding with my understanding of Thomas King's words, I would like to share a story of my own that I believe has influenced how I view the world and act. Maybe it’s more so a series of events than a story. “You’ll never believe what happened” (King, 5) is apparently the best way to start a story according to King, however I will start mine differently. I will retell the story how my Mom always did.…

Book banning and censoring is something that happens in this country to stop children from being exposed to topics that are sometimes deemed too explicit to be suitable for children. Harper Lee’s novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, keeps getting banned from the curriculum of a Mississippi middle school. This is happening for the books inclusion of rape and derogatory language, particularly the overuse of the n-word. Many also do not like how some of the characters in the novel are portrayed, and do not realize how this portrayal is very accurate to the time period. Because of the truthfulness of the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, along with every other book, should not be banned or censored because books reflect and bring awareness to real life problems, the practice of banning books violates the First Amendment, and reasons for book banning are often easily contradicted.…
