Comfort zone is a situation where one feels safe and at ease. It is a type of behaviour that keeps us at a low anxiety level. Simple activities or routines that we practice regularly like taking the bus to school, watching television programmes and checking out social media platforms are part of our comfort zones. These everyday activities that we are used to will not make us feel anxious and uneasy. We like to stay in our comfort zone even though we are bored of being in the comfort zone. When we see the struggle that others go through to achieve something in life , we will be scared of the numerous challenges that we may face. However, it is important that we leave our comfort zone for self improvement so as to achieve success.

Last year, I decided to read a book a month. This is because reading will widen my vocabulary range, helping me to express myself as well as being more open to new ideas and perspectives . When I did not understand what the text is talking about, I did some research so that I could fully understand the story. Besides that, in order to remember the words which I have recently learnt about, I wrote down the new vocabularies into a notebook and reviewed them whenever I had time. Undeniably, reading helps me to brainstorm , see old problems in a new light and tackle the challenges we face with energy. From my experience, the more I try to widen my vocabulary range, the more creative ideas I am able to come up with and the better my writing skills …show more content…
Getting out of our comfort zones causes some anxiety. However, when this kind of anxiety is mixed with feelings of possible success, it will provide us a sense of accomplishment . Last month, I decided to confront my fears and start my first climb. This adrenaline -pumping activity has made me feel frightened, but once completed , it was exhilarating. It was a near death experience as I nearly fell down from the mountain. Daunted , but not defeated, I was determined to push on . Through the journey, I endured the freezing cold temperature and suffered numerous cuts and abrasions from my physical contact with the jagged slopes. After what seemed like an eternity, I reached the zenith of the mountain. This made me confident in doing things that I have never done before.

The reason why we stop ourselves from stepping out of our comfort zones is because we do not want to go to an unfamiliar zone which is uncomfortable to us . Fear , uncertainly and the unknown take our in our mind. In conclusion , we should never resist the change. The change is hard to encounter, but it is not impossible. We should always step out of our comfort zone and never allow fear to hinder us. We enjoy and feel secure when staying in our comfort zone rather than to venture with unforeseen risks. However, it is vital that we try leaving our comfort zone as it brings

It’s interesting, really, to see some of my old papers from middle and high school. I look back and laugh at the time, maybe around the third grade, when my classmates and I would groan and complain about having to write an ENTIRE PARAGRAPH. Now, after years of writing significantly longer academic papers that stretch far beyond a simple paragraph, my style and the depth of my topics have evolved based on what I’ve read. The most important pastime for anyone who wishes to write, unsurprisingly, is to read a wide variety of material, starting at a young age. Studies have shown that children who read more than their peers exhibit a larger vocabulary as well as more complex writing styles.…

Jordan Romero’s book is a truly inspiring piece of work in itself. It must be a true thrill to climb all of the world’s seven summits at the youngest age ever recorded. In my life, I have encountered my own “seven summits” which parallel as challenges I have faced throughout the course of my lifetime. The first and the most monumental “mountain” I had to climb was dealing with the death of my father. Personally, this was my “Everest” and through dealing with it, it has made me a much stronger and more capable human being.…

“So now I always tell my students about the Gulf-Stream: that what it means for us, for writers, is that we need to align ourselves with the river of the story” Bird by Bird Anne Lamott. This quote stuck out to me when I first read it, mainly because I am not usually a fan of poetic metaphors. However this is so cohesive it does not just seem as if it is a filler but it adds to the piece. Illustrating her thoughts in a vivid way and drawing a conclusion to her lengthy anecdote, it brings a deeper meaning to an almost unconnected story. The connection to writing and real world events is very important to further our understanding of our individual writing as well as how it can connect from paper to day to day life.…

In the quote by Christopher Columbus he states “By prevailing over all obstacles and distractions, one may unfailingly arrive at his chosen goal or destination” I thought this quote pertained to me because I know this year there are going to be many obstacles in English class, but if I just push myself I know I can reach my goal. As a reader and writer, I believe that I have grown stronger over the years. In the past, I did not like reading at all I would try to get by with reading as little of the stories as possible in order to pass. I felt this way until this summer when I started to read the books for English.…
