Comer's Final Performance Analysis

Improved Essays
In the beginning, I wasn’t sure what to do as a final product for this project. However, I got lucky and found that a fellow senior of mine had a project that could work well with mine. Ryan Comer wrote and directed her own one act play, however, she struggled with knowing how to present the final product. This is where I come in. As I have been learning to manage events, I figured that I could manage Ryan’s final performance. Since teaming up, we have worked together to get our event together- each focusing on our own aspects, but working together as they intertwined. The first step that I had to take was to talk to Ms. Meier- the school’s assistant principal and activities director- about when we would be able to use the school’s auditorium …show more content…
My two most valuable meetings with her were my interview and my night shadowing her. In my interview, I received a huge insight as to where she stood in regards to her job. She is a senior event manager who runs the front of house for many events at the Paramount Theatre. She walked me through what she will do for a typical event. For the most part, she is in charge of making sure that everything runs smoothly. She gave me valuable information to think about as I plan this event for my senior project and as I plan to pursue this in the future. I learned that at the core of every event- whether it be a wedding, a concert, a sports event, or anything in between- every event is the same. There are five parts. The set up, the ingress, the event, the egress, and the teardown. Phaidra also told me about different conflicts and challenges that she may encounter, such as dealing with difficult clients. Overall, my interview was extremely valuable to me because I was able to get a good picture in my mind of her job. Later, I was given the chance to shadow Phaidra at an event, which proved to be even more valuable. I had a great time, and I learned a ton. Walking into the evening, I had no idea what the event would be, but it turned out to be an MMA fight night. Phaidra told me that this is always one of her favorite and craziest events at the Paramount. At the beginning of the night, I helped get everything in the house ready, for example, I helped straighten out the stools upstairs. When everything looked good, we checked in with the head of security who was checking in the fighters and their coaches. The fighters weren’t all showing up at the same time, and some even showed up after doors had opened to the public, so Phaidra and I took over checking them in as they showed up. As people showed up we mostly just watched the ingress

The David Fleay Wildlife Park Applied Theatre Project, uses Theatre in Education through roving theatre, interactive performance and a post-performance workshop for young children. This will take place at David Fleay’s Wildlife Park in Burleigh Heads, Gold Coast over five days during a week of the September school holidays. The purpose of this work is to educate young children about why it is important to preserve Australia’s native flora and fauna, why it is in danger, and what they themselves can do at home to help the preservation. The project is planned to accompany National Bilby Day, which is held annually on the second Sunday of September, to honour one of Australia’s most endangered animals (Save the Bilby Fund, 2016).…

Individual Diversity Involvement For my Individual Diversity Involvement assignment, I decided to see Arsenic and Old Lace at the Troy Civic Theater. The theater, run by the public, is a great example of a community coming together for entertainment and socialization. The performers ranged from a young age of nineteen to, what I venture to guess, around seventy-five. The show was the first play of their 50th season, and was chosen along with the other plays and musicals that will be shown during the season by a board of directors at the beginning of each season. The people involved with performances including the actors, directors, managers, and set members are not reimbursed for their time or performances.…

Dear Treehouse Board of Directors and to whomever else it might concern. Before I begin, I would like to give the assembled group of individuals a great round of applause. I thank you for the dedication and effort each of you has personally put into this theater to insure it’s survival for a great number of years. As a former student performing member of Treehouse Theaters JTF performing team, I wish to bring to the attention of the board an issue that I have personally been concerned about every year within the team: the lack of student commitment concerning rehearsal attendance. I would like to propose that a policy be implemented that if a student auditions for the JTF performing team with more than eight hours conflicting with the already…

My flexibility and open-mindedness are major assets to me in the creative process. I am willing to explore wide and opposing ideas on many topics, and do not fear controversial or touchy discussion. I strive to create theatre without preconceived notions about the finished product, and am willing to see how the creative process guides our devised piece. I also do not fear taking a directorial role in a creative piece. Though a thorough and unstructured exploration of a topic is necessary in devising theatre, I know that the piece will have to take structure and hold to a vision as it moves from exploration to performance.…

About a year ago Pauline, Gloria, and I decided to be in a group together for NHD. Our overall topic was exploration, encounter, and exchange. Then we had to decide whether to do a documentary, exhibit, website, or performance. I said, "I think we should do a performance!" Gloria and Pauline slightly agreed but wasn't sure.…

Culture and health have a significant relationship. The way in which a culture answers the questions: what is health, what is illness, and what is treatment, will determine the ethnomedical approach defined by the culture. It is important as members of the separate ethnomedical system, biomedicine, to find the answers to these questions when first looking to solve a health issue in another culture. Then, it is vital to incorporate the identified health system in determining the best approach for the health issue. This paper will look at the health issue of a target population, the cultural factors that affect the illness, and propose programs that incorporate these cultural factors into the program design.…

I like to sing and I like to watch my friends perform too, and at Holy Family Catholic School, we have all our pep rallies and talent shows in three different rooms instead of just one room particularly for that. If we had one single room, we could add chairs instead of sitting on the floor. We could add stage lights so we can add more drama. We can also make the room much bigger, and I feel it would be great if Holy Family Catholic School could add an auditorium. First, we could add chairs to the auditorium.…

Am I reading this correctly? Our children are working behind the scene and you want the "behind the scene" parents to make props and volunteer our time for a performance where we will never see our children take the stage? Do you really think that you should be asking the 21 moms who will see their child the least for the most help? If a more inclusive play had been chosen then I'd be more than willing but this play highlights a few and leaves way too many on the sidelines. Having 21 stagehands really diminishes their importance and proves what a poor choice this play is for a grade of 80+ students.…

Theatre isn’t about getting accolades or the applause at the end of the performance. It’s not about the fancy costumes, sets, direction team, or the actors on stage. Theatre is not defined by appearing on The Great White Way or West End. At the end of the day, the length of the run, the venue, the price of tickets, the reviews and the publicity from the show does not exude an ounce of theatre. Theatre isn’t about being performed; it is how the performance affects the actors and audience members alike.…

The heat from the stage lights, the watchful gazes of the audience, and the sweat dripping off of our faces as we struggle to remember our lines, these sensations of being on stage are what caused the performing arts to become not only an activity, but also a passion and an unexpected source of personal growth. Through my experiences in drama and music I have been able to discover my own meaning of fulfillment and define who the person behind my appearance truly is. My passion in the performing arts started when I was a young child first learning to play the violin. Picking up the violin at the age of 6, I became stuck on one of the most basic songs for almost a whole year. At that time no one believed that I could play the violin, my teacher thought that I was too hyperactive and even my mom attempted to convince me to quit.…

During my ongoing business conference to Colorado to learn about future career opportunities for my dual degrees in Communication design and Computer Science, I got to attend an orchestra concert presented by the Hapless Heroes who were conducted by Leslie Stewart. The show was musical theatre where they had a live orchestra playing in front of the stage while the actors explained the Greek tale of Orpheus and Eurydice. I attended this amazing show on the 4th of December. I love learning about Greek Mythology so I was already enthusiastic about attending this show.…

Opening night, the dancers that performed in the University Dance Theatre production, had talent, agility, and graceful movements. The concert had a variety of dance genres, visual appeal, and emotions that each piece and the show overall represented. Humor, drama, and serenity were not emotions I thought I would receive while watching these dances. One thing I did not realize would make many of the pieces was how crucial and reliant lighting and graphics were necessary to make the piece more visually interesting. However, I was excepting similar dances and movements; even if, some pieces had comparable choreography and emotional appeal the diversity stood out.…
