Americans have been fighting in Afghanistan for a while. I Believe that the reason we went over there was because of 9/11. I may be absolutely wrong on that though. From what I have heard previously on the news, thousands of Afghanistan citizens were killed in this war. My research is all about the Combat Outpost. I know absolutely nothing about it. I have no idea what it is, or who it is, when it happened or how it occurred.
WHAT I WANT TO KNOW? Since I know absolutely nothing about Combat Outpost in Afghanistan, I would like to know what it is. This article was entitled, “Dramatic account of battle in Afghanistan that killed eight U.S. soldiers at Combat Outpost Keating” The following article was published on October 12, 2009. The article came from a staff writer that works for the NY Daily News. The author’s name is Stephanie Gaskell. This article talks about an attack that took place at the U.S. Combat Outpost on October 3rd. “The combat outpost was under heavy fire. One soldier was dead, many more were wounded.” (1) Combat outpost is a U.S. military base in eastern Afghanistan. Unfortunately, before this specific attack was over, 8 more soldiers had been killed. (1) During this attack even commanders started losing hope in such an unpredictable event. “[The troop commander] said that if he did not get help soon , they were going to be overrun,” This was written in an email.
