Decision Making In Com 230 we learned about different conflict styles. The different conflict styles range differently from everyone. The five different types are Avoidance, Accommodation, Competing, Compromise, and Collaboration conflict styles. My conflict styles are Accommodation and Collaboration. I see myself sometimes accommodating to a person interest if they are stubborn and will not see in another person’s perspective. I sometimes Collaborate but if I can’t I will just allow them to win for the benefit for me and the group. When I am speaking to a person that is rational I will try to collaborate a decision that will make us both happy. I rarely like to avoid a problem since I don’t like to walk away empty handed unless I know it …show more content…
The first conflict style Avoidance can be detrimental to a group. If one member chooses to not give their opinions or avoids any work, then the group will have a missing leg. It is hard to sit in a chair that only has 3 legs. The accommodation style is also not as good. If someone doesn’t give their opinion to accommodate another person’s idea, then the group can miss out. The competing style is bad also since the group member no longer cares what happens to the rest of the group if it is their way. The Compromising idea is a little better since everyone is at a middle ground with an idea. They may not be satisfied but it will get the job done. The best possible style a group can have is the Collaboration. Everyone walks away knowing that the decision met their expectations and they are happy. I have learned recently that I do ask a lot of questions. I ask if it is true what I am hearing or why is this product better than this one. I want to see the results or see the proof behind what I am hearing. I also have the Intuitive and the Dependent style. I also use my Intuition to make decisions such as when I do assignments or playing sports. I sometimes do not feel like writing or doing any assignments so I just do it because I have a good feeling that I will do better if I am unprepared. Also, when I play soccer I use my intuitive style to make decisions. Nine times out of ten it was a good pass and play to make a goal. I use this style quite a bit with decisions that I have a long experience doing. My Dependent style I use when it is important decisions in my life. For example, which college should I go to? Which job would be better to work at? I use my family and friends to find out from their perspective what I would like better. So far, I am happy with my decisions and appreciate everyone that helps me with the decisions I

On the other hand, groupthink can be used to help reach a final decision as a team and open up the chance for new ideas to be formed and discovered. When you work as a team…
