Should Colombus day be a holiday ? Alot of people say it should and say it shouldnt . It could be a holiday because alot of people know its a holiday . Heres why it shouldnt be a holiday . Colombus and his teams treated the indigenous groups they came across as obsticles to their greater mission . I dont think thats right . The Indians of South America had more formalized instuitionalized slavery . At least the Indians didnt have to live in harmony with nature , they had a little impact on on the enviroment because they had a small number of tribes . The enviroment has no intrinsic value . People should not live in harmony with nature in the sense of simply keeping it pristine . Our civilation is more in harmony with nature by making it serve with our ends .
