“Columbine shooting”
On April 20, 1999, the most deadliest attack in any American high school history had happened (enimwikipedia.org). Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris decided to go on a killing spree on April 20. In 1998, Dylan and Eric were both arrested and sent to a juvenile program after they stole from a van (cnn.com). They both like violent video games, movies, and music (Brezina 23). Their parents had told the news that they were acting different when they arrived home from the juvenile program. Eric had posted on the internet that he would like to kill people and he also threatened to kill one of his classmates (cnn.com). Later police went on the internet and had to take down …show more content…
They decided to do it on Hitler's birthday which is who they looked up to (Biography.comeditors). A few days before they went on there killing spree they went to the cafeteria so they could study how many kids were gonna be eating, and what time they needed to set the bomb for. They estimated that there were going to be over 500 students in the cafeteria at the time (History1900s.about.com). That morning they got up and went to the school. They drove separate cars so they could park in different parking lots. They were going to put 5 bombs in each car and set them off so whoever was in the parking lot at that time would be killed. Eric and Dylan walked into the cafeteria with two duffel bags with a 20 pound bomb set to go off at 11:17 pm (History.com). They walked outside waiting for the bomb to go off. They waited about 5 minutes and when it didn't go off they knew the only choice was to start shooting everybody (History.comstaff). Before they went back in the school there were kids outside eating lunch. At 11:19 am Klebold and Harris started shooting outside before they made their way in (History.comstaff). They started shooting people left and right. Neither of them cared if they injured someone or if they killed someone. All they wanted to do was shoot anything. Anybody who tried to run or tried to get up and move they were going to …show more content…
Some of them didn't have that chance that others did. Between both of them they fired 188 shots, threw 76 bombs, but only 30 exploded and 46 did not (History1900s.about.com). Witnesses later said that after the shooting had occurred both Dylan and Eric were smiling and laughing (brezina 16). After the attack, nobody knew why 2 kids from their school would do something so terrible. The students said that they both were in a clique together with a few other kids. They were the weird kids who nobody talked to or liked. They were not the popular ones and they were targets for bullying (en.m.wikipedia.org). The students who usually bullied them were the athletes. The athletes thought that it was cool to bully kids and call them names. The news reporters came and asked the survivors why they thought Dylan and Eric shot up the school. Nobody could tell them why. The news said that it was not just a shooting at all, it was a bombing on a massive scale
