The school violence at Columbine High School was depressing. I got the chills from watching the video. On April 20th1999, a terrifying event happened at Columbine High School in Colorado. The school massacre involved two students, who were known as misfits. They have been planning the attack for 12 months. There was solid evidence leading up to the horrifying massacre killing 17 individuals including students and teachers. The gunmen did not have a specific group of students to target. The client that I will be counseling was a student at Columbine High School, his name is Patrick Ireland. At the time of the massacre, Patrick was a junior and he was located in the library with a group of friends studying. When the gunmen arrive they were hiding

Book Review: Nobody Left to Hate Nobody Left to Hate: Teaching Compassion After Columbine, is a book written by social psychologist, Elliot Aronson. Within the book, Aronson addresses issues such: as bullying, taunting, humiliation, and exclusion in the atmosphere of school classrooms-which are said to play major roles in triggering the pathological behavior of the shooters. I always had an interest in the understanding of mass shootings specifically, the Columbine incident, which inspired my rationale for selecting this text. After reading the summary of the book I was interested to see what insights and solutions Aronson could offer to prevent such situations happening.…

One notable exception to this is the Columbine High School shooting, where two teenage boys – 18-year-old Eric David Harris and 17-year-old Dylan Bennet Klebold – carried out the attack as a team. On April 20, 1999, Harris and Klebold walked into the Littleton, Colorado, school and killed 12 students and one teacher before committing suicide. Although the attack is described as a school shooting, the two teenagers had bigger goals. They wanted to ultimately inflict pain on the entire community and initiate a revolution among students like them (Larkin, 2007). Harris and Klebold planted two propane bombs in the cafeteria near the athletes’ tables, which failed to detonate.…

In document “Violent Video Games Train School Shooters” Attorney Jack Thompson states that “On June 18, 2004, a 12 year old boy, dressed in camouflage, walked into his Bull Run Middle School in Prince Williams County VA armed. On him he had a rifle, a knife, a butane fuel and 100 rounds of ammunition. His intentions was to take hostages, take over the school, and settle scores, but luckily a passer-by heard the familiar sound of a gun being loaded as he walked by a bathroom, and a new “Columbine” was narrowly averted. The Prince William County Police got a search warrant and seized guns and computer equipment from the boy’s home, but they missed something. Being that Attorney Jack Thompson had represented the parents of the three girls shot and killed by 14 year old Michael Carneal in the Paducah Ky., school massacre, and predicted Columbine on the Today show eight days before it happened, called the Prince William County Police and suggested they needed another search warrant.…

The motive behind their murderous and suicidal rampage indicated revenge for apparent mistreatment by other students” (“Criminal Defense”). This is just one of many stories of kids going nuts just because someone bullied them. It’s so sad knowing anyone can bring anything to school without being detected and others students won’t be safe.…
