I’ve had a variety of exposures to healthcare. I’ve worked in locations ranging from medically isolated villages in rural Africa to urban clinics in the United States, and I’ve been guided by physicians representing disciplines such as family medicine, infectious disease, and pediatrics. Just as diversity is essential to medicine, a diverse range of exposures is equally important for a medical student. The reason I am most interested in the Columbia-Bassett program is because it will provide me with a unique opportunity to learn about health care in two very different environments.
