The Colossal Effect of Bullying
(Attention Grabbing Strategy) There is a common saying that “the right choice is never the easy choice.” (Background Info) This can be easily testified to by middle school principal Mary Podlesny, high school principal William Davis, his vice principal Tom Blauert, and Roy Grande, Nabozny’s main bully throughout the years. When Jamie Nabozny started being harassed by school bullies over him being a member of the LGBT community, he immediately reported it these school authorities. Jamie Nabozny was an average person with an average life, until he started to become a victim of bullying due to his sexual orientation. Though he was constantly bullied and harassed by a myriad of students every day, he never attacked back or harmed the oppressors in any way. He remained humble, simply attempted to avoid them as much as possible. (Evidence From Documentary) The documentary Bullied shows that when the bullying began to seem life-threatening, he ran away to Minneapolis. However, when his mother found him, and became distraught about him not living with her, he agreed to come back for the better of his mother. (Transition) As an alternative, he was homeschooled. However, when his parents could no longer afford Nabozny to be homeschooled, he was forced to return to Ashland High. He immediately started being harassed again. The worst confrontation was when he was (craft) perusing his textbook, and a bully commenced kicking against him repeatedly, to the point where his injuries were so severe, he required to be hospitalized and take surgery. (Transition) Furthermore, the bully threatened to him that if Jamie were to ever tell anyone about what had just occurred, he would kill him. Because the frightened boy felt that returning to Ashland High would further endanger his life, he took the necessary precaution and ran away again to Mississippi. (Elaboration). This demonstrates that Jamie did the right thing by remaining benevolent and humble in spite of the constant bullying, harassing, and teasing he was victim to on a daily basis. He only took action when his life started to be in jeopardy. (Significance) This sagacious individual exemplifies to all of the millennials across the nation that everyone should always stay true
