Colorado Symphony: Live Concert Report

The live concert entitled “La Bohème” that Colorado Symphony performed this last Saturday was amazing. This funny classical composition music was made by several musicians, and each of them has a different perspective and interpretation of a piece of music, especially the conductor Andrew Litton. Several instruments such as violin, viola, cello, double bass, brass, woodwind, trumpets , trombones, bass trombone; timpani, snare drum, triangle, cymbals, bass drum, xylophone; harp characterized the scene. The audience enjoyed the vibrating elements that produced the sound in string instruments such as the guitar, harp, piano etc. Obviously, there were genius melodic and harmonic creativity; the masterpiece thus that the beautiful performance in …show more content…
The show was a humorous celebration of the symphony orchestra which was taking a satirical scene such that the humor that showed the weaknesses or bad qualities for some characters. The Second City was lovable when looking at the players, the repertoire, the composers, the personalities, and even the audience. However, La Bohème was also amazing, and the audience was almost the same as the first one. I tried to discuss with some of them about the issue and they told me that they pay upward of $80 for the right to dress up and sit in a chair for hours reading every word in the program. After leaving the concert hall, it is noticeable that old people immediately begin telling each other what they know about how much they loved the performance and how they plan to go more often. This conversation showed me enough about how old people love too much classical music. In conclusion, after finding out how rent was considered in the classical music scene, I’m about to care this because rent is the one favorite thinks we cannot forget in American

I attended the American Landscapes performed by Oklahoma State University Symphony Orchestra and Dr. Thomas Dickey conducted the orchestra. The concert was held at the Serentean Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. At the concert, I was an amateur, listener to this type of music. I had never witnessed a live performance of this musical style before. I would consider myself to be a passive listener.…

On the surface, one might not think that the great Italian opera La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi and the acclaimed indie group Dinosaur Jr. have much in common. One concert, for instance, took place in an intimate performing arts center to an attentive and quietly reverent audience while the other in a loud, rough-and-tumble rock venue to a lively and informal audience. Indeed, there may appear to be no similarities between the effortlessly skilled classical stylings of the UNT College of Music and the deliberately ramshackle indie sound of Dinosaur Jr. However, with these two concerts, we see Christopher Small’s concept of “musicking” in full effect and, critically, two different forms of the same musical elitism.…

On Sunday, June 21st, I went to see the Dallas Symphony Orchestra perform “The Music of John Williams and Hollywood’s Great Composers” at Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco. The concert was held in the church’s worship room at 6:30pm. This was a great place for the DSO to perform because the audience and the orchestra were very close and, in a way, felt more personal. The show included fourteen pieces: “Overture to Captain Blood by Korngold, ‘Tara’ – A Short Poem for Orchestra from Gone with the Wind by Steiner, arr.…

It’s not typical for a teenager like myself to be caught watching a symphony. Due to this well-known stereotype, I was skeptical when I attended the Symphony of the Americas concert in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. However, much to my surprise I was entranced by the alluring symphony and atmosphere. The performance, in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, paid tribute to both Italian and Hispanic composers by featuring music by Gioachino Rossini, Arturo Marquez, Gaetano Donizetti, and the legendary Ernesto Lecuona.…

At the beginning I got excited for the concert because of all the media they show on the ceiling and walls.…

The kind of music that we have been going over these past five weeks or so in this class is not new to me, but at the same time I am not totally comfortable with the different styles and how each are unique. When deciding what concert to go to o I could write this report I was unsure which one to pick. I was unsure of what each concert had to offer me with what pieces of music that would be played. After much debate and deliberation I came to the determination that the best concert for me to attend would be Cirque De La Symphonie Goes Broadway! They had rows of chairs set up for the orchestra to perform on the stage, with music stands in front of the chairs and the big instruments already set up and prepared to play. The lights were bright while the audience was filing in and taking their seats, but once the performers came in the lights focused on the stage and the performers. The audience was a mix of college and high school students, family, and friends who were either dressed up or in casual clothes. The audience members were friendly and talkative, but became quiet and focused once the concert began.…

As I walked into the Brechemin Auditorium I was immediately mesmerized by the stage. I took my seat and instantly took notice of the crimson curtain and the Grand black piano shining in the spotlight. The auditorium was much smaller than I had expected, but it created an intimacy between the musicians and audience that was necessary for the performances. During Introduction and Variations on ‘Trockne Blumen,’ D.802, I could hear the pages of sheet music turn and the breaths that the flute player would take during her performance. I was completely in awe of how beautiful the flute looked, glistening in its gold color under the spotlight as the flutist would slightly bob around when playing.…

Upon attending the International Chamber Music Festival Concert, a certain ecstatic vibe could be felt as the performers walked on stage with their musical instruments. The virtuoso’s performed in pieces that contained trios, duets, and quintets; showing the concentration they required when listening to each other. When working on Chamber Music, much of the melody jumps around from instrument to instrument, show casing various solos and much of the instruments having to coincide with each other to carefully listen for the melody. The first performance, was from Mosaics, by Eric Ewazen, only introducing the first movement: I. Barcarolle. The performers Dr. Susan Berdahl (flute), Dr. Xiaohu Zhou (bassoon), and Dr. James Moyer (marimba), all played outstandingly and show cased exactly how Chamber Music is meant to be played.…

On Thursday, September 29th at 7:30pm I attended the LU Symphony Orchestra Concert in Towns Auditorium. Prior to the concert beginning, I noticed a wide variety of instruments on the stage. There were some instruments that I did not know the name of but for the most part, I knew a large majority of the string, woodwind and brass instruments presented. The last time that I went to a symphony was when I was in elementary school, so attending an orchestral concert in college was a much different experience. I was fascinated by the diversity of instruments.…
