Becoming color brave is not an easy task but Mellody mentions a very good example in her speech. ESPN is company that is run by John Skipper, a white Southern gentleman; according to Mellody John is her favorite example of diversity. Any open position that the company gets John insists that the candidates are diverse. He has always said yes to diversity by hiring not only to most qualified people for the job but also the most diverse. This I think is a perfect example of a world that I hope we can one day live in. The one that caught my attention the most was when she talked about all the sacrifices that her mother had to make in order to provide for her family and I thought it was so inspiring the way that Mellody talked about her mother. Having that kind of positive influence I am made a large influence on her life and shaped her into achieving anything she wanted to.
