Though his performance may not have been as heart moving as the romantic moments between Leonardo Di Caprio (Jay Gatsby) and Carrey Mulligan (Daisy Buchannan), his ability to give Fitzgerald’s Nick Carraway life through his actions were better than past attempts and by far the best embodiment. Despite critical reviews on Luhrmann’s adaptation of the text being poor in terms of the actors bringing to life the characters, it is clear to see that Leonardo Di Caprio, Carrey Mulligan, Toby Maguire, Joel Edgerton (Tom Buchannan), and Isla Fisher (Jordan Baker) significantly added to the lure of the film, gave life and added to the imagination used bythe characters in the …show more content…

Costuming played an important part in the relevance of the scenes and how the characters were viewed in consideration of the 1920s. The ageless beauty that was present in the sets demanded equally magnificently clothed characters to catch the eye of the audience. One perfect example of this was the introduction of Daisy Buchannan and Jordan Baker. Daisy and Jordan are seen being whimsical and airy as the white, red and gold setting around them suggesting wealth, joy and innocence or light heartedness. Their garments are also reflective of the mood that is present in the room as well as the personality of the characters themselves.
