Colloquium is here to help make the transition from high school to college and offer support during this time. We will be having class once a week during the fall semester where we will go over all things Linfield. In addition to this we will also be available to help with class registration over the summer! Until you declare your major and pick an advisor in that department Dr. Murray will be your permanent advisor.

I’ll be contacting you soon to introduce myself, tell you a little bit about what to expect as you prepare for college and address any questions that you have about how to choose courses and register. Registration begins at the end of June, so it’s very important to consider what classes you’d like to take before then! Go through the advising information in the enclosed Orientation and Academic Advising Guide and follow the steps carefully. You’ll find a helpful step-by-step checklist of instructions online too at:

However, it wasn’t until later into the fall semester when my want to become an Orientation Leader was enriched. Dealing with being uncomfortable in this new environment and worries about my family at home left me flustered and confused.…

When discussing social change, one of the things we mentioned that is important in the social change movement was allyship. To me, being an ally means fighting for equality of groups of people who are marginalized, even though the issue being fought for does not directly affect a person who is an ally because they are not a part of the marginalized group. When fighting for equality, an ally’s role is to listen and support the marginalized. They listen so as to better understand what the marginalized groups are going through and, this helps them better support those groups. Allyship also requires one to acknowledge that they have a privilege that a certain marginalized group lacks.…

My co-facilitation assignments occurred during Week 6 and with the focus on Performance Improvement. During prior co-f facilitation assignments, I have found it helpful to establish communication with the team as early as possible. This is done so that expectation and goals are established before the facilitation work begins. I sent out an initial introductory note to the team during Week 3 of class, but received no response due to team member changes. After receiving Dr. Milman’s draft lecture notes and instructions during Week 5, I reached out to the new team.…

An event in my life that will influence my academic goals at CCU was the passing of my mother on 09/16/2015. She passed so suddenly that we weren’t prepared, neither mentally nor financially. We didn’t know how we were going to pay for her services but God allowed generous people to be moved to donate to our memorial fund. We reached our goal and then some and it was just so inspiring, I felt God was with me and my siblings every step of the way.
