Colonial Country Club Assignment Analysis

Decent Essays
This profile of the place appeared as odd assignment for me. This assignment being a partner project was completely unexpected. Colonial Country Club is foreign as undiscovered land for me, I had to rely on my partner for preparation for the interview. I did not know what to expect, or what is expected from me in this exclusive society. We distributed the parts of the interview as Matt preparing the questions and I took the responsibility to incorporate the interviewer’s oral response into our essay. One thing that I have noticed from collaborative writing through this assignment was style of the writer. Matt’s writing style challenged me to start writing because I was not familiar with his style, I did not know if my transitions were well

The author’s diction in explaining her teacher’s immersive admiration of England ridicules the strong appreciation that her teacher and other Antiguans have towards England. Finally, Kincaid elucidates her own personal feelings about England when she saw the map . She explains how she did not care when she saw the map of England as she had no longing to “put a shape” to England and was thankful that she was “unable to draw a map of England”. She even compares drawing the map to “a declaration of war”. Despite the huge influence England has on her life, the writer is very uninterested in learning about the country or even drawing its map.…

It is my pleasure to recommend Chauncey Boggs for the Mosbacher Institute International Trade internship. My acquaintance with Chauncey began during her first semester at the Bush School in the course, PSAA 601 Foundations of Public Policy. Chauncey excelled with the first writing assignment in my class. She initially expressed that she had little experience writing memos and arranged to meet with myself and Cindy Rasor at the Writing Workshop to better understand graduate school writing expectations. More importantly, Chauncey made a point of drafting her memo early enough to receive feedback.…

In my midterm self-assessment, I discussed how I thought I was among one of the unlucky ones that was not blessed with natural writing skills. However, through class discussions, I’ve learned that one of the most important competent of professional writing is the need for constant revision. Contrary to popular believe, writing does not come easy to anyone. In order to successfully produce professional writing, it is important that one plan, draft, revise, and edit his or her work.…

“The road to success comes through hard work, determination, and sacrifice.” Dolzinski once said these words together and they seem to fit life in the colonies wonderfully. All aspects of the colonies give what this quote says success takes, but the three this essay focuses on are colonial families, life on a farm, and leisure. Colonial families, although similar to our own differ greatly in some ways.…

Throughout high school, I have noticed an overall growth in my writing skills. The skills that I have learned since freshman year has helped me grow as a writer. In the beginning of Freshman year my writing had limited vocabulary, informal expressions, and it lacked proper organization. My English teacher encouraged me to use a thesaurus and to read more books to help broaden my range of vocabulary and sentence structure. Therefore, these resources helped me build a vast range of vocabulary including transition words which helped my writing flow more smoothly.…

Like I previously stated I learned how to do many things with my writing this semester. The first essay we wrote, a narrative, was probably my favorite essay to write. Critical reflection Reflecting back on what I have learnt about myself as a writer is that it is okay to be aware of your weaknesses and using the necessary tools to support and strengthen them. As a writer it is good to step outside of your comfort zone and experiment with new genres. Let your writing take you on an emotional journey, and let your emotions lead your writing into a new journey. As a writer you need to expand your vocabulary and use powerful descriptive words to really create a mental image for your readers. I have learnt to understand the importance of sentence structure, drafting, and proof reading and not over using commas creating sentences that are too long.…

I was not an excellent writer at the beginning of the school year, but I can gladly say now that I have inherited more writing skills that I will benefit from in the future. One of those skills is being able to reflect on every angle on my topic to allow me to organize my ideas accurately. This skill is beneficial to learn, for it helped with my report essay to acquire the focus of my paper more clearly. Moreover, this skill helped me write papers in my other classes more easily and efficiently. Likewise, my voice can be read strongly throughout the personal narrative essay, because the passion I had for my topic was an emotional one.…
