During Colonial America, Democracy was a work in progress with many democratic and undemocratic features. Most of the undemocratic features have been fixed over the years since america started. Back then not everyone was treated equal and not everyone had the same rights. Some were more unlucky than others.
In Document 5 some of the undemocratic features were that slaves had no rights, but servants had few rights, such as, freedom of speech. They also could not be owned forever. Even though they were all black they still had many problems throughout the years. Even though indentured servants were free they could still be kidnaped and be put into slavery. Approximately 450,000 servants were put into slavery.
