Colonel Macnab's Kidnapped: Similarities Between Book And Movie

Decent Essays
“BANG, BANG!!!!” Colonel Macnab just got killed in the movie Kidnapped yet, if we go back into the original book, the whole scene isn't even there! The movie and the book are very much different in the sense that the movie cut out and added scenes that were not in the book. Like in this scene, where in the book there is a completely different ending, they never even meet Colonel Macnab, Alan and Davie just go in their separate ways! I will be talking about 3 similarities in character and 1 difference in the characters and one difference in the plot and 1 difference in the setting. I believe that the book makes much more sense then the movie, considering that the movie is changing history.

First, I will talk about the similarities, one similarity is that davie is described as skinny and frail in the book and in the movie, their is one difference though, in the book you get to imagine what davie’s features are in the movie they decide that for you. A second similarity is, how Alan got on the boat, his small boat crashed into the big boat, and he sailed into the air and barely grabbed onto the boat then he pulled himself onto the boat, this scene did not change in either the book or the movie. A third similarity, is when they are at Clooney's Cage. Alan decided to play cards all night and even take davies money and gamble with it, even though he knew that davie was

This is the perfect segway into our differences, I will first be talking about the setting. In the movie Clooney’s cage is a Cave naturally made into the mountain side, and

In novel and movie Fahrenheit 451, written by Ray Bradbury, there were many unexpected things between the two stories. Although the film reiterates the basis of the book, there are many differences to contrast with the novel and the film. The two were similar including their setting, some of the plots, and the character development. But there were also many differences in those parts of the stories and how they were interpreted. There are details embedded into each one of the topics.…

the movie was very odd and I did not like it. In the movie the dog replaced Clover. In the Book the story was told by no one and in the movie it was told by the dog also old major did not die the same in the Book as in the movie. Also in the movie it is rushed and confusing overall I did not like the movie or the Book but the Book was better than the movie. I think that if people only watched the movie and not read the Book they would be confused because in the movie not all the info is there and it's hard to…

Jaws A great plot escalating smoothly with 3 dynamic characters it is a grossing story that does a great job at hooking and keeping people interested until the end. Horror, Action/adventure, suspense, with a dash of comedy the genre of Jaws is very unique and contribute to the greatness of jaws. Although my first viewing of jaws was a great experience. I personally suggests anyone who has not seen jaws to see it, as it is an experience unmatched by most modern day movies. Jaws takes place in amity island where a humongous great white man-eating shark is terrorizing the people of this beach centered town.…

Like many other movies derived from books, there are numerous differences. The book has many people who aren't named in the movie, and the movie shows scenes that the book does not. The book described the Abramowiczs as a fairly poor family in a small shtetl, but in the movie it shows a wealthy family in a big village. There are also many similarities between the book and the movie. Both the book and movie contain the same main ideas in the plot, and have more or less the same storyline.…

In “The Landlady”, Billy Weaver is lured into a seemingly normal bed and breakfast by an old lady who, despite her gentle and unthreatening appearance, wants to kill him. It is a story about how those with cruel intent may take advantage of those who are innocent and naive. Although the book and the movie can be arguably similar if generalized, there are many differences that may change the way a reader/viewer may grasp the concept of the story. Since a movie and book cannot be exactly the same, the film version is bound to have things that differ from the text. One example of how the book develops the development of the story is with the setting.…

“Lame…” is what I thought to myself once I finished watching the movie “The Maze Runner.” In my opinion, I thought that The Maze Runner book was way better than the movie. When I read the book, I believe I was a sophomore in Ms. Brown’s class and I shockingly liked the book. The reason why I say shockingly is because I never read books and when I do, I rarely like them. After we read the book we watched the movie, and I thought that it was a real disappointment.…

It seems an unfair view to expect a movie about a book to be exactly the same down to every single detail. Communities of fans will always find something wrong with a story, for it has “failed” to match expectation. Books are a place where someone can be dragged into the story and forget about everything else for a short while. Movies do the exact same thing, except it is seen as an easier way than books for a lot of people. Ignoring obvious differences (such as the fact that one is in picture form, and the other is in words), movies and books may not be so different after all.…
