In this day and age of environmental change and the effects it has on our body, it is emerging that not only does pollution and harmful toxins accumulate in our tissues and body cells but also in the integral organs of our bodies - for e.g. lungs, liver, kidneys, intestines etc. Scientists have been studying the effects of pollution in air, water, soil and the food we eat. It has been proved by scientific research that the effects of these pollutants and toxins cause long lasting damage to our living environment that is very difficult to reverse. Similarly, toxic elements get accumulated and form a coating along the inner linings of our body tissues and organs. This can be caused by many factors like diet, very little exercise, …show more content…
As we know, the colon is the longest part of the large intestine and the lowest part of the digestive system. Its function is to absorb the moisture and salt contents from the food we eat before it is eliminated from the body. This is the area where bacteria aided fermentation of unabsorbed material occurs. The digestive system of the human body is designed in such a way that the foods we consume is passed through the digestive tract - the small intestine and the large intestine - undergoing various stages of absorption. By the time the digested matter reaches the large intestine of which the colon is a part, most of the nutrients are absorbed by the body for its functions. The resulting matter passes through the colon which absorbs any residual water, salts, magnesium and other elements. If this process fails to function at optimum level, some of the waste that needs to be eliminated by the body gets accumulated along the walls and linings of the colon and the intestines like residue. A continuous repetition of this process over a period of time causes the colon and the intestines to become inflamed, irritated and functioning much below the required levels to keep the body
