According to mayoclinic they do know that colon cancer occurs when healthy cells in the colon become altered. Most cases of early colon cancer are not noticeable and takes about 8-10 years to even notice something is wrong. The common symptoms include, diarrhea or constipation or change in the consistency of your stool which could potentially lasts longer than four weeks. Many people with colon cancer that have not spread to distant sites usually take surgery in the abdomen as the main or first treatment. But since colon cancer is hard to predict they most likely have to go with a more aggressive approach. Which means more chemotherapy, causes many side effects in a person’s body. For example many patients face “fatigue, always feeling tired and exhausted and can sometimes cause pain in stomach, headaches and nerve damage” (cancer.net).
