Collision Lab Report

This knowledge could be useful in many aspects of the real world. Testers could use velocities and momentums to help better the development of cars. Maybe by putting cars into collision tests using different slopes, or even on flat ground, testers could make cars stronger and safer for the public to use. Another good use would be to law enforcement. When fatal car crashes happen law enforcement usually reconstruct the accident and by using the knowledge of velocity, momentum, and distance, they could reconstruct the accident pretty accurately. They could see how far the cars traveled after the collision and how fast they were going before and after the crash. These are only a few ways that this lab, and its aspects, could be applied to the

The definition of an accelerant is a substance that accelerates the speed of fire or makes a fire more intense (Accelerant | Define Accelerant at Dictionary.com, n.d.). When forensic laboratories have debris that was collected from a crime scene they can use either the Headspace or the Vapor Concentration techniques to determine if there was an accelerant used. Both techniques use Gas Chromatography, which is separating mixtures based on their distribution between a stationary liquid phase and moving gas phase (Saferstein, 2011). The Headspace Technique was developed in the 1980’s to aid in explaining the odor compounds found in the air surrounding objects such as plants, flowers and food (Headspace technology - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, n.d.) Headspace analysis is the investigation of the components present in the gas, which is found at the top of the vial (Labhut Education Centre | Principles of GC Headspace Analysis, n.d.).…

As I passed through downtown Atlanta, I couldn't help admire the home of the Braves, not just because it was an architectural wonder but because it brought back to mind that very first lesson when Professor Van Huevelen sparked my curiosity when he said we find that there are some things in this world that are repeatable. Repeatable. Repeatable. So a baseball pitcher, if he throws a ball with the same speed and in the same direction, spinning the ball the same, it'll end up going about the same place.…

In this lab, we carried out a variety of reactions using different chemicals and metals. A chemical reaction is when the chemical state of the substance you are testing rearranges its ionic and molecular structure. One of the reactions we experienced was single replacement, this consists of one ion switching places with another ion to form a new compound. Another reaction we saw was double replacement. In this reaction, two compounds ions are switched to form two new compounds.…

Introduction: The lab experiment on Fabrication and Microwave Frequency Measurement of a ring Resonators was about finding the relative dielectric constant and the response of a ring resonator. These values are found by using a ring resonator and setting a frequency signal to the ring to resonate the signal. This lab also shows how to make the ring resonators from paper or any type of electric device from fabrication. Fabrication is used to print electric devices such as printed circuit boards.…
