Most High school student believes that a college education can only help them get the job of their dream, while they ignore the impact college can have on their life. University of Maryland President’s and Chairmen of President Barack, Obama advisory commission, Freeman Hrabowski, examines the culminant role college plays in life in his article “Colleges Prepare People For Life”, published on December 22nd, 2013 in the Baltimore Sun, a daily newspaper. Throughout the article, Freeman gives examples and facts to prove, as he states in the fourth paragraph of the article that “colleges prepare people for jobs, but more critically, they prepare people for life” (260). He describes college as one of the mainstreams of a successful life.

Conversely to a recent New York Times illustration that characterizes college as a place for suckers, Freeman designates college students as hero and winners because as data and research show, the high demanding jobs require at least a college degree. To reinforce his viewpoint, he affirms in the second paragraph, “a college degree does more than facilitate the process of finding a job for individuals: It guarantees a heavier paycheck” (260). In that sentence Freeman is pointing out two outcome of a college education: ease of employment and better payment. Basically, Freeman is saying that college graduates are more likely to be considered for jobs than individual who stops their studies after earning a high school diploma. For instance, two friends Jean and Talebi attend the same high school, after their graduation Jean goes to college and get a bachelor’s degree in architecture and Talebi starts living a party life-all he does is partying. If both of them apply for the same job, Freeman’s point is that it will be easier for Jean to find the job because his college degree give him the skills and knowledges that the post requires. The earnings of an individual can be one of the major point that defines his success in life; therefore by mentioning that college graduates gross high income, Freemen is emphasizing how college is a preparation for
