College Writing Reflective Essay

To whom my future classmates may be, what exactly is college writing? I personally think that college writing is similar to high school writing, but more. To emphasize, I think that college writing requires more time, research, revisions, and effort. Whereas high school may be more lenient when it comes to grading, college may not; I feel as if professors may be more strict when it comes to the outline and structure of one’s writing. To be a writer in college, is to do as the professor says and to put more time and effort into your writing. As you and I are both new to college writing and may face some challenges, such as: writing more than five to seven paragraphs or writing in a format different than MLA -- I am optimistic that we will be able to overcome any obstacles that may come in our way as college writers. …show more content…

As mentioned in the article, I presume that we will need to read over and modify our writings several times to make it ‘perfect’, or satisfactory. Another key point, I believe that the amount of effort we put into our work can foreshadow the grade or quality of our work. “Borrowing words from authorities had left me without any words of my own” (“I Stand Here Writing”, Sommers). Like demonstrated in Sommers’ writing, relying on others or using others’ work as your own will leave you more harm than good.
