Before I took the step into a college writing class we had already been drilled in high school by our English teacher Mr Gould. Noble High school really took writing and citing sources seriously, so some things I was taught in my college writing class wasn't really new to me. I feel as if Noble was preparing us for college, so we weren't lost. My senior year of high school, we were required to write an APA research paper and an MLA research paper on a historical topic of my choice. So when it comes to writing long papers i'm no stranger to it, it almost feels normal now and isn't that scary. With that being said there was a few things here and there I did learn. I learned from the is class how to use commas and semicolons correctly in a sentence. I always had struggled with correctly placing punctuation in a …show more content…
I believe using google drive is a good medium for writing because, you can never lose the work that you have done, and it can be accessed from any computer in the world without having to download or transfer it. I find that if I were to hand write my paper first my handwriting is a little sloppy, and the draft may not be the required page number because I write somewhat big. Or my words aren’t spaced correctly. Which is why I prefer writing on the computer because I can see my work and how long it is without any human errors such as spacing or bad penmanship.
The piece of writing I have chosen would be the persuasive essay. I have chosen this piece because it was my most successful piece of writing ever in school. I have learned that if I really put my mind to writing a well detailed and properly cited paper it can pay off in the end with an A- (93). With my experience of writing research papers from high school this essay was easy to me. I didn't think I was ever going to have a hard time. Writing papers like this is easy because I have learned where to look for reliable

For the narrative, I had no problem writing, since everything was my own words. However, for the third essay, the research paper, it took time to find anything relevant to my argument, and moreover, it took time to actually like my topic, since it wasn’t what I wanted to do. The research took a large portion of my time, but the actual writing wasn’t too complicated. Although the increase in minimum word count became overwhelming at times, the work time in class allowed me to manage my time well, not needing to work a lot outside of school. I never procrastinated, and didn’t have to rush the night before it was due.…

College Prep Writing Advanced is the hardest class I have ever taken. I learned a lot over the course of this class, and I believe that my approach to writing has changed. I have learned that while writing it is easy to underthink, but it is easier to overthink. I also learned you cannot wait until the last minute to revise and edit essays. The first paper we wrote was the personal essay.…

I have always struggled with writing essays and they’ve never come easily to me. I used to sit in my room, in the middle of the night, just staring at a screen, for what would feel like hours. Wondering, “When am I going to finish this paper, or even, start it?” The writing process is lengthy and has many steps, such as reading, brainstorming, creating an outline and a rough draft, editing, and finally having a final draft. These steps can help anyone write a decent and fully developed paper.…

My experiences with writing have been somewhat limited until I signed up for English 101. I have to admit that English was not my favorite subject in school. I never felt like I was any good at writing, and spelling is still not my strong suit. I always felt like I was better at math. My attitude towards writing was my biggest hindrance to my success.…

Over the first several weeks of school I have had the rewarding experience of being involved with the fast-track English 111 class provided by my high school and local community college. I have gained experience in managing deadlines, juggling prompts, meeting various criteria, and learning what it truly is that makes writing both correct and brilliant. Coming into this class, I truly lacked a general understanding of proper writing. I wasn’t able to write in MLA format, let alone understand how to execute a process-analysis method, or correct sentence structure. In these past few weeks alone I feel that I have developed as a writer and overall student, know having at least a grasp, if not broader knowledge, on how to produce quality, college-equivalent writing that has exceeded me past an amateur level.…

Upon my entry into English 1010-02, my first college writing class, I expected to breeze through the course with an easy-A and minimal effort after my successful completion of AP English 11 this past year. I began the year with the utmost confidence in my writing abilities, and believed that my skills were above par. It wasn’t until I received my score on the essay evaluation for my First-Week Essay- a measly five out of twenty- that I realized that this was not the case. At first, I was astonished that my seemingly exceptional writing skills had not earned me the A that I believed I deserved. However, as time went on I came to the realization that I had not put in nearly enough time or effort into the paper to receive more than a C at most.…

I'm not going to do a whole bunch of research to demonstrate this well-known point, because I'm not getting paid at all right now so I really don't care. But I will use my own personal experience working at community colleges as an adjunct in Ohio. The three colleges I've worked at, one four-year university and two community colleges, pay anywhere between 425-500 a credit hour per semester. So, for one three credit hour course from Sept. - December, I'll make a total of $1500 before taxes for the semester.…

On January 17, 2017, my first day of English 106-H, my overall goal for the course was to become a stronger writer in which I could generate clear theses, express my theses in body paragraphs, and create conclusions that are not too repetitive of what I wrote, but still wrap up the entire essay. Before taking this course, I had an extremely hard time generating a thesis, let alone an entire introduction paragraph. Consequently, my papers had no structure from the introduction to form great body paragraphs. Therefore, sometimes it was not clear on what I was writing about from the introduction, leaving the reader confused. I learned through free writing regularly, I can express any and every idea that comes to mind.…

After receiving my grade and feedback I realized my sentences were choppy and not well put together. When I submitted my paper the second time not only did I receive a better grade but also a better understanding of what my papers should look like and what the content should include. I really enjoyed writing this paper, because it allowed me to write about something I have a passion for. I really enjoy writing narratives, but I believe the easiest and best paper I wrote in this class would be essay two. This is when we chose an advertisement and analyzed the details about it.…
